Bringing Nature Back: One Yard at a Time!

Discover your power to restore nature! Learn how every garden—big or small—supports biodiversity through practical strategies, native plants, composting, and more to make a difference for the planet.

What power do you have to change the world around you? As a home gardener, the answer is quite a lot! Together, home gardeners can help restore nature, one yard at a time. No matter the size of your yard, your actions make a difference. Every home garden plays a role in supporting biodiversity—from the smallest soil organisms to apex predators. Nature isn't just in far-off places; it's in your front yard and your backyard, too. Discover how you can harness this power at the symposium Bringing Nature Back: One Yard at a Time! This day-long program, presented by Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Lycoming County in partnership with the Responsible Decarbonization Alliance, features engaging talks on how we can and why we must use our gardens to make a positive difference for the planet. Event Details The in-person, eight-hour event includes coffee and tea during registration, but lunch will not be provided or available for purchase within the building. Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch, and a list of local restaurants will be available at registration. A 90-minute lunch break is allotted. You may bring your own water container, and water fountains are available onsite.
