Nature's View-Master

At Colton Point there is a quiet spot that is one of my favorite views of the Pine Creek Gorge. I sneak away from well-known spots at the park and hike here to imagine all the days and years that have come before me. I imagine how it looked in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries when as much lumber as could be reached was clearcut. We have come a long way in our stewardship of the forests. This view is more beautiful now than it was then, and I’m glad.
