I wanted to capture an image that exemplified the celebration of the Fourth of July, and this scene from the annual reworks show in Ithaca was the perfect opportunity. I borrowed a ladder and climbed up onto a friend’s roof overlooking Cayuga Lake. From there I had the perfect vantage point to watch the reworks and capture some photos.
