Baby, It’s Cold Outside
By JOHN FULMER

In September, churches in the Tioga County area received a letter to collect coats, hats, scarves, mittens, and gloves and this month, they’ll be holding a giveaway. Everyone who needs a coat will get one, said Dawn Bell, manager of St. Paul’s Thrift Shop in Wellsboro, which is coordianting the drive.

Bell had some personal messages to pass along. She said last winter a lady wanted a flannel-lined coat as she walked a mile and half to get a ride for work. Bell did not have one for her at the time but kept looking and found one. Also, a gentleman came in and wanted a sheepskin-lined jacket to the hip.

“I have that jacket and hope he stops in soon,” Bell said.

The schedule: October 19-24 Coats will given out at the thrift shop shop from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 26, the Elkland Parkhurst Presbyterian Church will have its giveaway.
